Description

Rebound in half brown/maroon leather over green buckram boards. 5 raised bands to spine with git titles and devices. Decorative endpapers. xxxii + 630 pages, and 4 pages of ads. With 131 black and white illustrations.

A bit of rubbing to leather and cloth, a few small spots to top edge. Binding is tight and solid. All in all a very good or better copy in a very nice binding.

This book, first published in 1836, was written as a complimentary volume to Wilkinson’s great work, Manners and Customs of the Ancient Egyptians. It includes detailed coverage of Egyptian life, covering Religion, Law, music, superstitions, magic, sorcery, and Alchemy, public dancers, the bath, serpent charmers, government, domestic life, and more.
