The Sitra Achra is most often directly linked to the other ‘dark side’ of Hebraic mysticism, the Qlippoth. However, these two concepts are, quite simply, not the same thing.

Excellent scholarly work on the origins of the Sitra Achra. Far from the usual fair of Kenneth Grant and the mass amount of LHP material that is prolific everywhere, Mercer looks back at different transliterations of the texts of the Zohar and the Torah to highlight the references and origin of the Sitra Achra, separating the Sitra Achra from the ‘Qlipoth’ in the process. The writing is professional and is without hints of any type of agenda or buzzwords.
Everyone interested in or obsessed with the concepts of the “qliphoth” and “Sitra Achra” need to read this book. But I’m disappointed that there is no reference to E. Levi who gave an interpretation of the “averse sephiroth” in Mysteries of the Qaballah. IMO, the current system of the qliphoth is an oxymoron and it developed from a philosophical exploration into the insane dogmatism espoused by LHPers and “Satanists” today.
